The Hansen Writing Ball

Do you know your word processor history?

The first commercially produced typewriter was the Hansen Writing Ball. It was invented in 1865 by Rasmus Malling-Hansen, principal and reverend of the Royal Institute for deaf-mutes in Copenhagen.

Nietzsche famously owned one of these beautiful and strange machines, but unfortunately never mastered the use of it.

Woahhh – crazy looking things! It’s crazy to think how far we’ve come since 1865, it hasn’t even been 200 years and we’re already on computers and connected to people all over the world – what will the future hold?!
